A man was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Kitchener on Friday morning.

Waterloo Regional Police say the collision happened around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of Fischer-Hallman Road and Haldimand Street. A 65-year-old man had exited his vehicle following an unrelated crash when he was hit by a passing Chevrolet driven by an 18-year-old Kitchener woman.

The man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was not hurt. Police closed the intersection for several hours while investigating. While no charges have been laid, police say they are expected.
