A 77-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Ajax late Tuesday night.
Durham police responded shortly after 10 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck near Westney Road South and Bramwell Drive. Investigators say the man was crossing the road when he was hit by a southbound Hyundai sedan.
He was taken to hospital with critical injuries and later died. The 22-year-old driver was not hurt and remained at the scene.
Collision investigators are examining the circumstances, and the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
