An 51-year-old driver from Illinois has been charged with careless driving after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Middlesex County on New Year’s Day. Emergency crews were called to the eastbound lanes near Dorchester Road in Thames Centre shortly after 6:20 p.m., where an SUV had lost control and struck a transport truck.
Three people from the SUV were taken to hospital, including one initially reported in critical condition, though all injuries were later deemed non-life-threatening. Eastbound traffic was partially shut down while responders cleared the scene.
