A 29-year-old man from Texas has been charged in connection with a single-vehicle crash in Elliot Lake, Ont., on Saturday morning.
Ontario Provincial Police say they were called to the intersection of Poplar Road and Lakeview Road at around 7:15 a.m. on Dec. 13 after receiving reports of a vehicle in a snowbank. Officers took the driver of a grey pickup truck into custody at the scene.
The driver, identified as a resident of Alvin, Texas, has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and two impaired driving offences, including operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. The pickup truck was towed and impounded.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Jan. 15.
In their statement, OPP reminded the public of the dangers of impaired driving and urged people to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
