Toronto police are investigating a downtown apartment fire as suspected arson. Emergency crews responded around 9:39 a.m. Friday to a building near Wellesley Street East and Jarvis Street. No injuries were reported, and the extent of the damage remains unknown.
Police believe the fire was deliberately set and are searching for a white man, aged 30–40, wearing glasses, a blue and white jacket, white and black shoes, pink headphones, and carrying a large backpack.
He was last seen riding a bicycle northbound on Jarvis Street. Eastbound lanes of Wellesley Street East, which were temporarily closed at Church Street, have since reopened.
