Several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving a Brampton Transit bus Wednesday afternoon. Peel Regional Police were called to the intersection of Queen Street and Hansen Road just before 3 p.m.
The collision involved eight vehicles, including the bus. Investigators say preliminary information suggests the bus swerved to avoid an object, setting off the chain-reaction crash. Paramedics treated 10 people at the scene for minor, non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet confirmed how many passengers were on the bus or how many were hurt. The intersection remains closed as the investigation continues, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
Update – The bus driver, a 58-year-old woman, has been charged with eight counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, along with one count of dangerous operation causing bodily harm.
