A barn fire in Lambton County caused an estimated $500,000 in damage Tuesday evening.
Fire crews responded to the blaze at 3421 Petrolia Line around 8:37 p.m., where a metal shed caught fire and spread to a nearby barn. Fortunately, no animals were in the barn or on the property at the time, but tractors and wagons were destroyed.
The property is rented out, and the tenant was not home during the incident. A neighboring property owner alerted the fire department. The current owners have had the property since 1983.
PNEFD Chief Rick Cousins shared that there was a tense moment when a firefighter showed signs of heat exhaustion. The firefighter was treated by the support team and EMS, transported to the hospital, and later released in good health.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
