Two aggressive dogs were safely captured in Barrie after officers used treats to lure them away from a potentially dangerous situation.
Barrie police were called around 10 a.m. Friday after a 32-year-old man reported being bitten by one of the dogs in a parking lot on Essa Road. Police said the two animals approached the man aggressively, forcing him against a parked vehicle before one bit his leg.
When officers arrived, one of the dogs ran across the road and narrowly avoided being struck by traffic. The animals were later located in a driveway on Essa Road, where they continued to act aggressively.
Officers used dog treats to guide the animals to a secure area at the rear of the property, allowing Animal Control Services to respond. Bylaw officers then secured both dogs with catch poles.
Police said they have been unable to reach the dogs’ owner or owners. The investigation has since been turned over to bylaw officials.
