A 45-year-old woman from Barrie has been charged with impaired driving after a single-vehicle crash on King Street near Emil Kolb Parkway in Caledon earlier this week.
Ontario Provincial Police determined that the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle was affected by alcohol. As a result, she received a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
Police are reminding drivers that alcohol impairment remains a major cause of fatal collisions in Ontario. Criminal charges apply for a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher, and penalties can also occur within the “warn range” of 0.05 to 0.079.
The OPP urges anyone consuming alcohol or drugs to make alternate transportation arrangements and to call 911 if they suspect an impaired driver.
