A 36-year-old man from Belleville, Ontario, died after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 2 late Wednesday night, according to local police.
Emergency crews, including police, firefighters, and paramedics, responded to the scene near Mitchell Road around 10:50 p.m. The man was found injured and later died in hospital. His identity has not been released.
At the scene, officers discovered broken glass and debris on the roadway, but the vehicle involved had fled.
Police are asking the public for help identifying the driver. They’re specifically seeking information about any vehicle with a damaged windshield or dashcam footage from the area between 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.
Update – Police announced that a 43-year-old Bellville man was arrested and charged.
