Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed the discovery of a body following a weekend fire in The Nation Township, east of Ottawa. The Hawkesbury OPP and Nation Township Fire Department responded to the blaze on Concession Road 20 around 10 p.m. Saturday.

One tenant was unaccounted for after the fire, and another tenant attempted to rescue them but was forced to retreat due to heavy smoke and flames. On Monday, human remains were found, and authorities believe the victim is a 57-year-old woman who had been missing.

While the fire is not suspected to be suspicious, it is still under investigation by the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, the Office of the Fire Marshal, and the Office of the Chief Coroner.
