A four-year-old boy was seriously injured after a house fire broke out in Etobicoke on Wednesday night. Fire crews responded to a home on Tofield Crescent, near Kipling Avenue and Rexdale Boulevard, shortly after 10:30 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the basement, and all residents had already made it outside. Due to safety concerns, crews battled the blaze from outside the structure.

Paramedics took the boy to SickKids Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Two others were treated for smoke inhalation, and two dogs were rescued from the home. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the investigation continues.
