A 40-year-old man from Brampton has been charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Bracebridge, Ontario, on Monday afternoon. Ontario Provincial Police responded to the scene on Carlsmount Road around 4:20 p.m. after a vehicle left the road and struck a tree. The occupants fled the scene but were later located by authorities.
Shekhar Phogat was arrested and charged with impaired operation and refusal to comply with a breath demand. He is scheduled to appear in court in Bracebridge on August 19.
Police emphasized that impaired driving remains a serious concern for road safety in the Muskoka region and encouraged anyone suspecting impaired driving to immediately call 9-1-1.
