A 26-year-old Burlington man is facing several charges after a dangerous incident on the QEW in Oakville on Wednesday evening.
Police say a grey sedan was seen travelling the wrong way in the Fort Erie-bound lanes near Third Line shortly after 7 p.m. The driver had initially been heading in the correct direction before colliding with a tractor-trailer in the same area.
Following the crash, the driver fled the scene, leaving behind parts of the vehicle, including the bumper and licence plate. He then drove about two kilometres in the wrong direction along the shoulder before exiting at Kerr Street.
The car was later found in a parking lot near Dorval Drive and Kerr Street. No injuries were reported.
Officers located the driver and charged him with impaired driving, exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, and driving without insurance.
He is scheduled to appear in court in Milton on May 4.
