A Cambridge man is facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting a Waterloo Regional Police cruiser and fleeing the scene.
Police say the incident happened around 7:25 p.m. Saturday while an officer was conducting a traffic stop on Brantford Highway, also known as Highway 24, in North Dumfries. During the stop, a Ford pickup truck struck the police vehicle before driving away. The pickup was later involved in a single-vehicle crash a short distance from the initial collision.
The 63-year-old driver was arrested and charged with impaired operation, refusing or failing to comply with a demand, failing to remain at the scene, fleeing police, dangerous and careless driving, and failing to slow down and proceed with caution near an emergency vehicle. No injuries were reported in either incident.
