A 10-year-old girl was taken to hospital Tuesday after being hit by a car that failed to stop for a school bus in Rolphton, along Highway 17. According to OPP, the girl had just stepped off a westbound bus around 4:30 p.m. and was crossing the road when an eastbound vehicle ignored the bus’s activated red lights and stop arm.
Paramedics brought the child to hospital with non-serious injuries.
Police charged a 29-year-old man from Dorval, Quebec with careless driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop for a school bus. He was released and is scheduled for a court appearance in Pembroke on December 15.
Highway 17 was briefly closed in both directions but has since reopened.
