A 27-year-old man from Cochrane is facing multiple impaired driving charges after OPP found his vehicle in a ditch along Highway 11 early Sunday morning.

Officers on patrol discovered the car around 1:50 a.m. in the westbound ditch near Cochrane. Police said an automated crash alert for the same incident was received shortly afterward.

After speaking with the driver, officers determined he had been drinking. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Cochrane OPP detachment for testing. The man has been charged with three impaired driving offences, including having a blood alcohol level over 80 and driving as a novice with alcohol in his system.

His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 9.
