Highway 416 was shut down for several hours Monday night after a crash involving a pickup truck and a parked construction vehicle near the Rideau River.

OPP officers from the Grenville detachment responded around 9 p.m. to the southbound lanes, where a pickup had struck a crash truck. Firefighters and paramedics from North Grenville and Leeds-Grenville attended the scene.

The pickup driver, identified as 24-year-old Cole Ramsay of Iroquois, was taken to hospital as a precaution, while no serious injuries were reported. Ramsay faces several charges, including impaired and dangerous driving, as well as alcohol-related offences. He was released with a November court date, and his licence has been suspended with his vehicle impounded.
