A single-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon in McKerrow, just east of Espanola, has left two people dead and another in hospital.
The collision occurred around 3:20 p.m., according to the Ontario Provincial Police. Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third was transported to hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
OPP technical collision investigators and reconstructionists examined the scene alongside emergency responders. Highway 17 was closed between Jacklin Road and Sand Bay Road for several hours during the investigation but has since reopened.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area at the time to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
