A 65-year-old Brant County man is facing charges after a fatal hit-and-run involving a cyclist in Glen Morris.
Police were called to East River Road at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday following reports of a collision in which the driver left the scene. Authorities say a passing motorist found a cyclist lying unresponsive in a ditch along with vehicle debris.
The victim, a 68-year-old Cambridge resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later located a vehicle believed to be involved and arrested the driver, identified as Lloyd Williamson of Brant County. He has been charged with failing to stop at an accident resulting in death.
East River Road was shut down for several hours between Glen Morris Road West and Highway 24 during the investigation but has since reopened. The OPP’s West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team is assisting, and police are urging witnesses or residents with surveillance footage to contact Brant County OPP.
