A cyclist is recovering in hospital after a serious collision in Ottawa’s Alta Vista neighbourhood.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Haig Drive and Pleasant Park Drive around 6:15 a.m Thusday. Police believe the cyclist may have fallen from the bike before being struck by an approaching vehicle.
Paramedics treated the male cyclist for critical injuries at the scene and transported him to hospital. Later afternoon, officials said his condition had improved to serious but stable.
Roads in the area were temporarily closed during the investigation but have since reopened. Police continue to look into the circumstances and are asking any witnesses or drivers with dash cam footage to contact the Ottawa Police Service’s Collision Investigations Unit.
