A cyclist was taken to hospital after a hit-and-run collision on a rural road near Collingwood Tuesday morning.

Police closed Concession 10 in Nottawa, between Sideroad 30/31 and Sideroad 33, shortly before 8 a.m. while emergency crews responded to the scene.

Witnesses told investigators that an older black pickup truck with a truck-bed cap allegedly struck the cyclist before fleeing the area.

Simcoe County paramedics transported the injured cyclist to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Huronia West OPP continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information or who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. The roadway has since reopened.
