A severe fire tore through a home in Muskoka on Tuesday, quickly spreading into the surrounding wildland. Firefighters from the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department were called to the scene on Delbrooke Road, where they found both the house and a parked vehicle fully engulfed in flames. The fire was rapidly advancing uphill through the forest, threatening two nearby homes.

Fortunately, the homeowner and their dog managed to escape without injury, thanks to working smoke alarms that alerted them to the danger while they were sleeping.

A total of 30 firefighters from four stations, along with nine apparatus, fought the blaze for approximately seven hours, but the home was ultimately destroyed. While the fire’s origin was traced to inside the house, fire officials could not pinpoint the exact cause due to the extent of the damage and two possible ignition sources.
