A dog was rescued from a house fire in North Middlesex on Monday morning after firefighters responded to a blaze on Nairn Road.
The home’s renter rushed back after being alerted to the fire and informed crews that his dog was still inside. Firefighters were able to safely retrieve the animal, which was given oxygen at the scene and taken to a veterinarian for overnight care. The dog is expected to recover.
Fire departments from Ailsa Craig, Parkhill, Arkona, and Coldstream responded to the call.
Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. No damage estimate has been released at this time.
