A woman in her 40s was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a hit-and-run in downtown Toronto Monday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at Beverly Street and Dundas Street, where she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a crosswalk.
Police say the suspect is driving a large white truck, possibly damaged on the driver’s side, last seen heading north on St. Patrick Street. Beverly Street remains closed between Dundas Street West and Grange Avenue as the investigation continues.
Update – Police tracked down the driver by reviewing footage of a white Hino delivery truck tied to the hit-and-run and tracing it to the company that owned it.
Olusegun Stephen Olayemiu, a 56-year-old Toronto delivery driver, has been charged with leaving an accident scene and careless driving causing injury. He is set to appear in court Tuesday morning for a bail hearing.
