A single-vehicle crash on Highway 407 in Whitby sent an elderly driver to hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle struck a guardrail and rolled onto its side near Thickson Road North shortly after 2:30 p.m. The driver, a man in his 70s who was alone in the vehicle, was airlifted by ORNGE to a Toronto trauma centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
Eastbound lanes of Highway 407 between Thickson Road and Baldwin Street South were closed for several hours while emergency crews responded and investigators examined the scene. The roadway reopened shortly before 5 p.m.
