A Waterloo driver is facing charges after a collision involving two cyclists on Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded shortly before 4 p.m. to the intersection of Steeplechase Way and Woolwich Street, where a Hyundai collided with two people riding bicycles.

A 59-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital outside the region for treatment. The second cyclist, a 61-year-old man, was not injured, and the driver was also unharmed.

Police have charged the 33-year-old driver with careless driving causing bodily harm. The intersection was temporarily closed for the investigation and reopened later that evening.
