A driver escaped unharmed after crashing into a tree during a rainstorm in rural eastern Ontario on Thursday. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Main Street and Perth Road in Westport, about 55 kilometers north of Kingston.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the vehicle lost control in heavy rain, causing it to veer off the road and knock down a hydro pole and wires.

While the roadway is open again, police are urging residents to avoid the area due to the downed power lines. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the Rideau Lakes OPP with any information.
