The northbound lanes of Highway 400 near Barrie have reopened following a serious crash Monday morning, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Police initially shut down the highway between the Highway 11 split and Forbes Road shortly after 8 a.m. while emergency crews responded to a collision near the Partridge Road overpass involving a pickup truck and an SUV.
Investigators say the pickup truck rolled over during the crash, ejecting the driver from the vehicle. The driver was later airlifted by Ornge to a trauma centre with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The driver of the silver SUV, which sustained major front-end damage, was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
Tow crews removed the heavily damaged pickup from the highway median before the roadway fully reopened just after 11 a.m. Police continue to investigate the incident and are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact investigators.
