Ontario Provincial Police report that a driver is facing penalties after rear-ending a tow truck at an active collision scene on Highway 417 in Ottawa. The incident occurred near Bayshore around late morning on January 2, while officers were already managing another crash.

The vehicle passed two police cruisers stopped on the shoulder before striking the tow truck, which was carrying another car. No injuries were reported. As a result of the crash, the driver is subject to a $490 fine and three demerit points, and could also face a licence suspension of up to two years if convicted.
