More than a year after a fatal crash on Highway 17A near Kenora, police have laid charges against a Brampton driver. The collision occurred around 9:30 p.m. on February 20, 2024, when an SUV collided with a commercial truck.
The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The SUV driver sustained only minor injuries.
Following an investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged 31-year-old Singh Varinder of Brampton with dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Kenora court on May 12.
