A multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Milton left one person with life-threatening injuries and forced the closure of all eastbound lanes at James Snow Parkway on Monday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police said the collision occurred just before 5 p.m. after an eastbound vehicle struck the barrier separating the collector and express lanes while attempting to merge. The impact caused the vehicle to veer into the path of a tractor-trailer.
The driver sustained critical injuries and was taken to hospital, while the passenger suffered minor injuries. Police said four vehicles were involved in the crash.
Eastbound Highway 401 remains closed at James Snow Parkway, with the shutdown expected to last several hours. Westbound traffic continues to move through the area with delays.
