A serious two-vehicle collision in Waterloo sent one man to the hospital late Thursday night.

Waterloo Regional Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Weber Street South and Union Street East around 11:15 p.m. The collision involved a Mercedes and a Toyota.

The 34-year-old driver of the Toyota sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. A 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Toyota was not seriously injured. The 24-year-old driver of the Mercedes was unharmed.

The intersection remained closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation. Charges are expected, and police are asking witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them at 519-570-9777, ext. 8856.
