A 64-year-old Malahide resident has died after an e-bike collided with an SUV south of Aylmer Friday morning.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. at John Wise Line and Imperial Road. The e-bike rider was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.
The SUV driver, a 39-year-old visitor from Ireland, and the vehicle’s seven passengers were not injured. The SUV suffered significant damage to its passenger-side door.
Ontario Provincial Police’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Road closures were expected to remain in place for much of the day.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation.
