A 58-year-old man is in critical condition after an e-scooter crash in Oshawa on Sunday evening, according to Durham Regional Police.
The collision occurred around 7:15 p.m. near Albert Street and Athol Street East, just north of Highway 401. Police say the e-scooter was heading east on Athol Street when it struck a vehicle making a right turn onto Albert Street.
The rider was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.
Police have indicated that alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, though they have not specified further details. No charges have been laid at this time. Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact Durham police as the investigation continues.
