An e-scooter rider has died following a collision with a vehicle in Toronto’s Port Lands near Tommy Thompson Park on Wednesday night.
Emergency crews were called to Leslie Street and Unwin Avenue around 7:42 p.m. after a crash involving a minivan and an e-scooter.
Emergency crews found the 43-year-old male rider with life-threatening injuries and transported him to a trauma centre, where he was later pronounced dead.
The minivan driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Officers noted the e-scooter rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Police said the cause of the collision remains unknown, and the circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation.
