A serious collision early Saturday morning between a transport truck and a box truck shut down the eastbound lanes of Highway 403 near Brantford for nine hours. The crash occurred around 5 a.m. between Middle Townline Road and Rest Acres Road.
The transport truck sustained major front-end damage, while the box truck was heavily damaged and left twisted on the roadway. A trailer that had been attached to one of the vehicles overturned nearby. Both drivers were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Heavy tow crews were brought in to clear the wreckage, and the highway reopened around 2 p.m.
