A fire at a home on the 400 block of Elliott Street West in Windsor caused an estimated $200,000 in damage on Tuesday morning.
The blaze displaced eight residents from the one-and-a-half-storey house near Bruce Avenue and Church Street. Windsor Fire and Rescue Services reported that their investigation found no working smoke alarms on the first or second floors.
Officials said the fire originated in the basement near the hot water tank and furnace, where combustibles had been stored against both appliances. No injuries were reported.
