An elderly woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a three-vehicle crash on Wednesday morning, according to Ottawa paramedics.

Ottawa Fire Services responded to the scene at Bank Street and Rideau Road, just south of Findlay Creek, at 8:12 a.m. Initially, reports indicated a collision between two cars, one of which was smoking. Upon arrival, crews found three vehicles involved, with one person trapped inside. Firefighters used specialized tools to extricate the occupant, a process that took about 15 minutes.

The woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, as confirmed by Ottawa paramedics.

Bank Street and Rideau Road were closed for about an hour in both directions, but all roads have since reopened.
