The family of six-year-old Havyn Winter is receiving community support following the tragic incident that claimed her life earlier this week in Sudbury’s Minnow Lake neighbourhood.
A fundraising campaign has been launched to help cover funeral costs and other expenses after Havyn was struck by a vehicle on May 19 near the Palace Place Co-Op on Second Avenue, shortly after getting off her school bus. Emergency crews responded around 3:30 p.m., and police have indicated the investigation is ongoing. Authorities say it may take time before a decision is made regarding possible charges.
Loved ones describe Havyn as a joyful and compassionate child who brought happiness to those around her. She enjoyed singing, dancing, K-pop music and Monster High, and was known for her curiosity and bright personality. Family members said she shared a particularly close bond with her mother and brother, Harlynd.
The fundraising page says the family is facing overwhelming grief while coping with the sudden loss of their daughter. Organizers say the donations are intended to ease financial pressures during an incredibly difficult time and help honour Havyn’s memory.
Friends and supporters continue to rally around the family as the community mourns the loss of a child remembered for her warmth, energy and ability to make others feel loved.
