A fatal crash involving three vehicles on the QEW in Burlington may have been triggered by a medical emergency, according to police. The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 6:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Walkers Line.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the scene and found that one driver, a 40-year-old man from Toronto, had been critically injured and was rushed to a local hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he was later pronounced dead. The man had been the only person in his vehicle at the time of the collision.
The other vehicle occupants were unharmed and remained at the scene. The highway and nearby ramps were shut down for about two hours to allow investigators to gather evidence and clear the wreckage.
No charges are anticipated, and the OPP expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation during the investigation. Authorities are still looking into the incident and are asking anyone with relevant information or dashcam footage to contact the Burlington Detachment at 905-681-2511 or Crime Stoppers.
