A fatal pedestrian collision early Saturday morning has led to the closure of part of Howard Avenue in Windsor.

Police say officers responded around 5 a.m. to the area near Howard Avenue and Charles Street, where they found a man unresponsive on the road. Initial findings suggest the 69-year-old was crossing the street when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.

He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Howard Avenue remains shut down in both directions between Edinborough Street and Grand Marais Road East as the Windsor Police Traffic Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate.
