A fatal multi-vehicle collision involving an ATV and a transport truck on Highway 11 in northern Ontario has resulted in the deaths of four people and prompted the closure of the highway, causing significant delays.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) first reported the crash to public at 4:12 a.m., noting the highway was closed in both directions between Driftwood (Highway 655) and Clear Lake Road in Kapuskasing due to a serious collision.
The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m., and by 4:57 a.m., it was confirmed to be fatal. Authorities later revealed the crash involved an ATV and a transport truck, leading to the deaths of four individuals at the scene. The closure was extended to include a wider area, from Labelle Street in Hearst to Western Avenue in Cochrane.
OPP urged motorists to avoid the area, anticipate long delays, and seek alternate routes. The cause of the crash and the identities of the victims have not been released.
Update – According to police, the victims included two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old, all from Moonbeam, along with a 20-year-old from Kapuskasing. They have been identified as Audric, Audrie, Carley, and Loïc.
