A 32-year-old St. Catharines man was killed in a six-vehicle crash on Highway 406 in Thorold on Wednesday morning. Ontario Provincial Police said the man was driving south when, for unknown reasons, he crossed into the northbound lanes near Highway 58, resulting in the collision.
Several others involved were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Both directions of the highway were closed for much of the day — northbound lanes since early morning and southbound lanes between Beaverdams Road and Highway 58 for several hours during the investigation.
