A fatal collision occurred in South Bruce Peninsulaon Thursday involving a passenger vehicle and a water truck on Highway 6 near Mar Sideroad, approximately 10 minutes north of Wiarton. The 90-year-old driver of the passenger vehicle, a resident of Lions Head, was pronounced dead.

Emergency crews responded at 11:31 a.m. to find the water truck engulfed in flames. As a result, Highway 6 is closed between Bruce Road 9 and Howdenvale Road, with additional road closures in the surrounding area, including Bruce Road 9, Mar Sideroad, Greig Settlement Road, Red Bay Road, and Huron Road.

Police are urging drivers to use Bruce Road 9 as a detour while the investigation continues.

Update – Highway 6 reopened in the morning of Friday, October 3.
