A serious multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Scarborough caused significant disruptions on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes, just past Meadowvale Road. Thick smoke and visible flames were seen at the scene, though the fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. The highway was fully reopened shortly after 9:20 p.m. following the lengthy closure.
