A boat caught fire near Memorial Drive in North Bay on Wednesday afternoon, sending thick black smoke into the air. Fire crews were dispatched shortly after 3 p.m. and arrived within four minutes, quickly bringing the blaze under control.
Environmental precautions were taken as Bartletts Towing deployed booms in Lake Nipissing to contain contaminants. The boat was successfully removed from the water. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
