A chip stand in Osgoode, Al’s Drive-In, is closed following an overnight fire. Ottawa Fire Services responded to the scene around 11:25 p.m. Tuesday after a 9-1-1 call reported thick grey smoke and the smell of burning plastic coming from the stand on Osgoode Main Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed visible flames and quickly launched an aggressive attack. As a precaution, they evacuated a nearby home and safely removed propane tanks from the area. No one was inside the stand at the time of the fire.

Firefighters had to dismantle parts of the wall to reach and extinguish hidden flames, successfully protecting the nearby home from damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
