A fire early Tuesday morning at Strathroy Mini-Storage is being treated as suspicious. Emergency crews responded to the York Street facility shortly after 4 a.m., where they were met with heavy flames and smoke.

The fire primarily damaged the office and warehouse section of the business, while the rental storage units appear to have been spared. Nearby residents were advised to close their windows as a precaution. Firefighters, working under challenging conditions, managed to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other buildings. The fire was brought under control by 9 a.m.

Strathroy-Caradoc police initially received a report of a tractor on fire, but the situation escalated. An investigation is underway by both police and fire officials to determine the cause, with the incident currently considered suspicious.

While a damage estimate is not yet available, officials expect it to be significant. Despite the setback, the business owners have expressed gratitude to the fire crews and plan to rebuild and resume operations as soon as possible.
