Fire officials in Amherstburg are continuing to investigate a blaze that broke out in a detached garage over the weekend. Crews were dispatched to the 300 block of King Street at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday.

About 30 firefighters responded and were able to quickly contain the fire. No injuries were reported. With the holiday season underway, the fire service is reminding residents to practice fire safety, including being cautious with heating equipment, seasonal decorations, and candles.

Officials are also urging homeowners to ensure smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are in proper working order.
